The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals in a Nutshell

For several years, we’ve experienced increased climate changes, such as severe weather patterns like tornadoes, floods, and fires. We’ve also become more aware of our global destruction over the last 100–150 years.

The good news is we’ve also seen an uptick in environmental initiatives and climate-focused startups and innovations. We’re seeing a global shift, and it isn’t business as usual anymore. Instead of solely having a profit-first mentality, which has been the status quo for decades, companies are adopting a collective planet, people, and profit-first mindset.

One of the more crucial initiatives to take hold is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. These are 17 interconnected goals designed to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

The goals were adopted by all 193 member states of the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The SDGs aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
